Chemours Faces Securities Class Action Over Opteon Refrigerant Demand Claims

This page covers the securities class action against The Chemours Company over its Opteon refrigerant business. Shareholders say Chemours and certain officers overstated aftermarket demand for Opteon and issued unreliable 2026 guidance, inflating the stock price until an August 2026 guidance cut sent shares down sharply.

The case was filed November 3, 2026 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. Our newsroom covered the filing in Chemours hit with investor class action over Opteon refrigerant demand. This page tracks the case and the lead plaintiff process.

Chemours had not responded to the complaint in court at the time of publication, and the allegations have not been proven.

What Is the Chemours Class Action Lawsuit About?

According to the filing announcement from Pomerantz LLP, the complaint alleges Chemours overstated aftermarket demand for its Opteon refrigerant products, had oversold those products in the prior fiscal year, and issued 2026 guidance that was not reliable.

After the market closed on August 4, 2026, Chemours lowered its full year adjusted EBITDA guidance to $775 million to $825 million, down from $800 million to $900 million. Management reportedly said the sales channel had gone into 2026 oversupplied and that about $65 million of aftermarket sales should have fallen in that year. On August 5, 2026, Chemours shares dropped $3.34, or 18.63%, to close at $14.59.

Opteon is Chemours’ line of lower global warming refrigerants used in car air conditioning, commercial refrigeration and building cooling systems. The lawsuit concerns what investors were told, not product safety.
